Since the commencement of Part 6 of the Civil Registration Act 2007 on 5th November 2007, couples can now get married by Civil Ceremony in the office of a Register or in an approved Venue. Approved Venues must:

• Be suitable for the solemnization of marriages
• Have adequate capacity to accommodate the numbers attending the ceremony
• Meet all relevant health and safety requirements
• Have adequate public liability insurance
• Be a fixed structure and must NOT be: in the open air, a tent, marquee, temporary structure or a private dwelling
