Description

Dublin Zoo first opened its doors on 1st September 1831 and was known as the Zoological Gardens Dublin. Its then 15 acres in the Phoenix Park featured 46 mammals and 72 birds donated by London Zoo. Visitors flocked to the zoo to marvel at animals they had only read about or seen in pictures, in some cases, animals they had never heard of!

Today, Dublin Zoo is a respected centre of conservation and education. As a registered charity (number CHY2964), all proceeds from events are used for the welfare and conservation of magnificent animals from all over the world. Dublin Zoo works in partnership with zoos worldwide to make a significant contribution to the conservation of the natural diversity of life on earth.

The stunning restoration and refurbishment of historic Haughton House has given Dublin residents and visitors a unique and distinctive new venue for a wide variety of special events - from wedding ceremonies to conferences, charity functions and fun days. You will have the unique experience of holding your event next to some of the worlds most endangered wildlife while knowing that the proceeds from your event are making a difference for these fascinating animals.
